Now in its fifth year and going from strength to strength the shop offers a not to be missed opportunity to find unique Harris Tweed items designed and produced on the premises by the proprietor Fiona Mitchell.

The vast range of colours and patterns in Tweeds, woven on the island, are put to good use in the wide range of items on offer.
Waistcoats, Ponchos, scarfs, bags, hats, cushions, ties and throws, are but a few items designed and  manufactured at Castaway Crafts.

With fashions and fads changing constantly and with direct contact with the customer and knowledge of thier requirements the list of products available is being added to frequently. All my products are of my own design and are therefore automatically protected by UK deign rights.

NEW TO CASTAWAY CRAFTS IS A RANGE OF "NAMASTE" FAIR TRADE CLOTHING FROM WOOLEN AND COTTON KNITS TO LIGHT WEIGHT SUMMER COTTONS.

   
"BEARTAS" ISLE OF HARRIS TARTAN GOODS. The tartan was designed and produced by the 6th year Sir E Scott school pupils in 2002/03 as their young enterprise project and won the Young Business Enterprise awards for Scotland and the UK. Castaway Crafts was involved from the start in the design and manufacture of the products and remain the sole supplier and manufacturer of the product although "BEARTAS" are still responsible for the manufacure of the fabric whether Tweed or Worsted or Upholstery cloth is required.

Wallhangings in tweed are inspired by the local views and the tweeds themselves. Cards and bookmarks are hand embroidered on tweed and embelished with shells collected from the many beautifull beaches on the island.

The shop is an Aladins cave of goods from locally produced Knitwear, paintings and craftwork to imported goods such as didgeridoo,s ,Masks and carved wooden figures. There is also a good selection of toys, gifts and hobby and craft materials to interest adults and children for those rainy days.
